Microsoft offered voluntary buyouts to approximately 60,000 employees Monday, the company confirmed, as the technology giant adjusts its workforce while pouring billions of dollars into artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The offers extend to roughly 27% of Microsoft’s global workforce, giving eligible employees an opportunity to leave the company with financial assistance and career planning resources. Microsoft Chief People Officer Amy Coleman announced the program Monday, saying it would give participating divisions more flexibility to adjust their staffing according to changing business needs.
